anybody know the thread for the caliper bolts? need to buy a tap and fix the threads on the knuckle - I think someone crossthreaded the shit out of the caliper bolts in the past.

12mm by 1.25 for fronts iirc

Do you still need this? I have one front caliper apart and can check the bolt with the tap set. You're interested in the threads for the four bolts that hold the two sections together, correct, not the mounting bolts that hold it in place on the rotor? Might I add...gah that sucks

Yeah, it struck me as odd that when I took out the bolts, two of them had different head sizes. I just remembered now since I need to change my pads.

Subscribed and if anyone can give me the length it'd be helpful. I'm running the ones from my NA brakes still and I need to space the bolts with a washer since they appear to be a bit longer than the TT ones. Learned that the hard way when it dug into the rotor. I could just get ones a bit shorter but would like to go with the actual size they came with.

Yeah I just ordered a set of bolts from 3SX but they don't list the thread. I'm not at my parents house often, so I need to have everything ready to go and can't waste time running back and forth from the hardware store.

I found the 12mm by 1.25 to be impossible to find in a hard bolt at the hardware store. I had to get them from mitsu. I could barely find a tap locally.

anybody know the difference between a "plug tap" and a "bottom tap"?

it doesn't matter because it is a through hole.

I think plug tap and bottom tap are the same. A through tap has more of a taper where the tap starts. The bottom tap has a short taper so you can have more fully formed threads in a blind hole.

From having to find metric fasteners over the years I know there are stores that stock sizes but NOT in common thread pitches, especially in the larger sizes. Head sizes are wacky too.

Man you guys work fast. Just confirmed it, the threads you're looking for are 1.25 and in response to Terry, the bolt is 1 11/16" (excluding the head). Sorry for the late response!

I'd replace the knuckle if it has been stripped.

Wouldnt you be able to get away with just re-tapping it?

Quick conversion says they're probably m12x1.25x40mm. Thanks for the info, I'll have to get some with my next bolt order...they are pretty limited in availability though.
