The season officially kicked off on Thursday with a hilarious Vikings loss :p, but the real shit started just a few minutes ago. Go Steelers. Jeff Reed nailed a 52 yard FG AT PITTSBURGH to start the season. Not bad for the toughest stadium to kick a FG in.

Am I the only one that hates the NFL on FOX? I swear those announcers are bottom of barrel guy with no football knowledge. They are almost as bad as that one female announcer on ESPN. And she's horrible.

Yep, any sports on FOX suck. I was watching the Phillies yesterday and it was terrible. Can't wait for the Eagles game to listen to the FOX idiots

Thankfully the majority of the games are on CBS.

Maybe you're used to CBS because you're a Steelers fan, but I can't stand Phil Simms on CBS. Aside from being the biggest moron I've ever seen, he's also a complete dumbass. Maybe I'm used to the bigger market games, but Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are awesome on Fox. They are so far superior when it comes to analysis and more cameras on the field for different viewing angles. What else would you expect from the biggest Cowboys fan on the face of the earth?

Reed didn't look so good on that one (just missed a 40 yarder with 42 seconds left in the game). I'm sure that place does suck to kick in.

And oh snap. Eagles going old school uni's.

I don't like seeing anyone get hurt, even if I dislike them, but Kolb going down is funny. The Eagles jobbed McNabb and Kolb starts one game and gets hurt? Hah. Vick is looking like a beast. If the defense can do something then Philly might have a chance.

DocWalt
09-12-2010, 07:10 PM
Kolb was playing like crap anyway. Sheesh.

stealthee
09-12-2010, 07:16 PM
Well thats part of my point too. McNabb was the franchise. As much as I hate the Redskins I hope they smoke the Eagles with McNabb having huge games against them.

Yeah!! Hail to the Redskins!! Beating the Cowpukes always makes my day. All those so called "experts" said we didn't have a chance. Well guess what, it's 2010, not 2009. The Redskins are a different team and they're for real.

Anyone else think the Pats looked better than expected ? I just made a whole thread like an idiot and dont feel like rewriting everthing all over again. Oh wait copy/paste works

Hey Guys, I didnt see any NFL threads yet. How did you like week 1 ?

I may be a little biased but I thought the Patriots were the most preppared team this week. They really looked good, still some holes but not bad. Its only the first game so its hard to say, maybe the Bengals were just over rated.
The Cowboys looked terrible, Romo wouldnt set his feet he looked like he didnt want to get hit or something. The Redskin were really not very good which makes the Cowboys look even worse.
Indy was a bit of a surprise. I didnt watch the game but watched the score. They were behind from the begining and just couldnt seem to get caught up to the Texans. The Texans were a decent team last year but to beat the Colts on opening game is big.
Watching the Jets currently and think Rex is a one trick clown, blitz, blitz, blitz. Get a QB thats good at quik passes and the Jets will look bad.

So let me know what ya think, I know theres a lot of Pats haters out there that will chime in !!

stealthee
09-13-2010, 10:42 PM
That was one of the worst games I have ever watched in my lifetime. For the Jets being so good, they played like shit. Mark Sanchez proved how bad he is again. How many first downs did they have? 5? Horrible. The Steelers/Falcons game was defense dominated but didn't look near as sloppy as the Jets and Ravens did.

Igovert500
09-14-2010, 12:55 AM
Andy Reid is officially a dumbass. He already said, if Kolb is healthy, he will start next week.

I started to respond to this and it turned into a rant that could have been printed, bound, and published. So to keep it concise, I'll simply say I feel that Reid has been the #1 biggest detriment to the Eagles for the past 5 years. I actually get pissed everytime we make the playoffs now because it will be one more year everybody will chalk up as a good season for him. A 3rd grader with a magic 8-ball could do better.

PS. I love watching Romo fail, but not as much as I love watching Romo cry.

The Texans have been a VERY good team for a couple of years. They have lost a lot of close games (including multiple times to the Colts). It was only a matter of time before the Texans beat the Colts, they have based their entire franchise around accomplishing that goal.

With that being said, Foster rushing for well over 200 yards was quite embarasing. :(

I didn't get a chance to watch the NE game, but from the highlights they looked like the same old Pats... and I HATE it :)

Jets had about the worst offensive game of their history. I enjoy watching Rex lose but kinda feel bad for Sanchez, its not his fault his coach is a dumb ass that talks a team up, putting a huge target on them before even playing a game.

I understand that Chris Johnson is a good back, and had a hell of a season last year, but why are broadcasters and/or braodcast stations so biased toward him? They were making a big deal out of Rashard Mendenhall being drafted 23rd in 08 vs Johnson going 24th the same year and they were comparing overall stats.

Well Johnson has 3376 rush yards and 771 receiving coming into today. Mendenhall has 1286 rushing and 293 receiving so it looks like a huge difference right? Well consider that Chris Johnson has 11 more games played than Mendenhall and it doesn't look like a huge difference, but they failed to mention that stat.

R/T93
09-19-2010, 03:31 PM
thats 10+, 200 yard games to make up for it then.....

stealthee
09-19-2010, 03:49 PM
Mendenhall was only a 3rd down back going into the game where he broke his collarbone against the Ravens so that skews it a little, but the point is, the difference isn't as big when you compare games played.

stealthee

Titans have a solid D. Pittsburgh D did their jobs and shut down the entire Titans offense. The only reason Collins ended up with so many yards is that Pittsburgh went into a damn prevent. Holding Johnson to 34 yards was epic.

That punt return that he muffed, when he got hit on the ground is apparently when it happened. Huge loss for the Saints for sure.

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/09/21/reggie-bush-reportedly-out-six-weeks/

Reggie Bush has a fracture in his right leg and he could miss six weeks, New Orleans.com reports.

The website, whose Saints' reporter is long-time Saints watcher Brian Allee-Walsh, said it is not a season-ending injury.

Bush was covering a punt that he muffed in Monday night's game against the 49ers when he was hit while on the ground.

"It felt terrible," Bush said after the game.

Pittsburgh looked like they should have looked in the first two games. I have been screaming, for the vet, Charlie Batch to be the starter since we knew Ben was gonna be suspended. He knows the team. Just because he is older doesn't mean a younger backup is automatically going to be better than him.

I was surprised that the Steelers scored so much. Maybe they should make Ben a backup when he comes back. I called a lot of games wrong this week, but my Pats won so I am happy. Ben will be the starter when he comes back. The offense will be much better off with him at the helm. Like Batch did today, Ben manages the game. He extends plays like no other. If Baltimore can't stop the run again next week then Pittsburgh is going to have a big game. They could easily end up 4-0 going into a bye and Ben coming back after that bye.

Pittsburgh's D has got to stop playing soft at the end of halfs. They have now let up 25 points in the last two minutes of either the first or second half. Thats with a total of (something like) 40 points total allowed all season. The D getting soft at the end of the halfs cost them todays game.

Looking forward to the Pats game tonight. If they can score on every drive they should be fine lol. Their pass defence is terrible.

The Chiefs run will end in Indy.

I ain't giving up hope! Chiefs running game(3rd) is stout, and so is our defense against the run(5th). Colts will have to do it through the air, which is obviously quite doable with Manning at the helm. If we can get some good stops on the pass we're easily in this game to win it.

Surprised nobody commented on the Randy Moss trade yet. Being a Pats fan I am not sure how I feel about it but feel there must have been good reason. I have felt that Brady has been trying to force the ball to Moss for awhile now, resulting in pics a lot of the time. It sounds crazy but I think the Pats wont miss a beat on offense without Moss.

I disagree. Defenses will no longer have to prepare for a true number 1 receiver. The reason why other receivers are open, often times in the nfl, is because the number 1 receiver draws double coverage. I believe the pats passing game will suffer without Moss. That's not to say it wasn't a good long-term move.

I am not saying that Brady will average 80 yds/game with an 80.0 passer rating the rest of this year, however, I think they will feel the impact of being without a true number 1 receiver. It would be the same thing if the Colts lost Wayne. Yes, we have several very good receivers, but they wouldn't be as effective without Wayne drawing the best corner/double coverage.

Woodley was called for hitting Campell high and he never even came close to his head. Now Clark was called for helmet to helmet and his helmet hit the receiver in the lower back, no where near the helmet.

The refs need to grow some balls and learn when not to make calls and stop bowing down to the shit "rules" that the NFL is trying to over-enforce.

Jackson had pass interference against him in the endzone, the 2 helmet to helmet hits on vick, facemask early in the game that wasn't called and so on. As bad as the Skins have been and all the drama surrounding them, you have to give them some credit for going out and beating a team fighting for the division title, in their stadium, with a back up QB and only 4 of 11 defensive starters still playing. They've had 10 games decided by 4 points or less and have beaten playoff contenders Green Bay, Philly, Jacksonville and Chicago. ESPN only wants to focus on the drama stories like Fat Albert and McSoup, but there's some real changes being made by Shannahan and the team will be better soon.

on a side note, indy seems to do well when they have to EARN their playoff shots.

we lock up home field tonight and it's about as good a chance as they'll ever get. 20-1 at home.

I'm willing to bet "resting" doesn't happen tonight. a) it's the Saints and we hate them. b) nothing's guarnteed espically in the NFL. I'll be there tonight to make certain. ;)

not tonight. next week. after everything's locked in...that's when there's incentive to "rest". and it always makes the team soft.

ah, yeah. I think Smith will play all the starters at least 2 quarters maybe 3 for the Carolina game and not tell anyone before hand. he talks to much about being prepared and not taking things for granted to let it all go when it matters most.

The NFC is as weak this year as it was last. Whoever comes out of the AFC will win it this year.

Brees pulled it off; expected more from hyped up Falcons, surprised they didn't keep pressure on and that they're play calls r predictable. It always seems the officiating lacks.

Defenses made last night's game.
Neither offense could seem to do much of anything.
Penalties didn't help.

Just glad to see the Saints pulled one out.
A glance at the stats showed to Falcons to be all over this one.

you can't fumble on the 1. when I saw that I instantly thought, "shit, we're screwed now.".

on a side note I got to watch the game(1st half) from the rafters above the as we were throwing t-shirts with parachutes during the 1/2 time show. it was AWESOME!!!

No.....because this is probably their last game this season and I don't get to watch them very often.
Then we will take in the Colts game.

sadly, the colts might actually do ok...since they won't be resting the team this year.

p.s.

i've got nothing personal against seattle. that said, if a team with a losing regular-season record makes it to the superbowl--let alone wins it...there is no god.

The Seahawks are my team but I don't think they are Superbowl material this year. I support the Colts because they are Mikes team and I cheer for the Redskins because someone needs to.

Wild card predictions??? Saints win in Seattle, Colts beat trippers in Indy. Eagles over the Pack cause of home field and the fact that Rogers can't do it alone (no running game). My upset pick is Chiefs over the Ravens.

I'll go with all of those except the Pack/Eagles. sure GB can't run but Phil's D is terrible. Rodgers has to be drooling over the game film.

Those seem about right but I wouldnt be shocked if Seattle actually pulled a HUGE upset.

LOL, don't remind me, the Vikings game was terrible. Rookie QB, albiet a very good one, basically had his way. WTF??? Hopefully they are all rested and the A team will show up.

Statistically, Seahawks don't measure up, a very long shot. Although Brees is the turnover king, they can usually pull it together in the clutch.

Ravens are actually favored to win by most; but Chiefs is an underdog pick. I am assuming they were holding back in the last couple of games and that Arrowhead stadium will help.

I am rooting for the Chiefs this weekend. If they beat the Ravens and the Jets lose to Indy then the Chiefs play the Patriots which should get the Pats to the AFC championship game.

playing in KC is no joke. most players I've seen interviewed say it's one of if not the worst to play for a visiting team.

My father inlaw is from KC and is a huge fan. He has always said its a very loud stadium for the opponent.
