In what sense? Career? Love life? All of the above?

I'm 21, I want to leave college, but I have no clue what I'd do. I just want to learn how to build crap, and sell said crap. Bleh. I feel you bro. No homo.

In what sense? Career? Love life? All of the above?

I'm engaged right now, all is good with that. It's pretty much everything else...I had to move in with my mom a little over a year ago due to the loss of my job / house. The biggest hindrance has been my car as I have not had reliable transportation to even get a job. My fiance went to med school and we have had no luck getting her a better job. I've had several opportunities to get rid of my car for a running / reliable car but everytime my car breaks and the deals fall through because of it. This shits just starting to get to me, same routine, everyday, I'm going fuckin stir crazy.

I have always been told to not be scared to venture out and try new things...I've always lived by that and it has always paid off. It is hard to do that now with my other half and I not having enough money to do things that change our situation. Almost every month, something terminal has gone wrong with my car or her car. Then today, I change the oil in her Eclipse, our only mode of transportation and the oil was full of copper flakes. It is just a matter of time before we have to replace her engine. I can do it, no problem, prolly take me 6 or so hours, but it's the point that we will have to waste even more money on something which sets us back even more.

Go get laid.
Seriously. Put a sock on it and go spelunking.
You'll feel better in the morning...

Ouch. You're still having car issues? :( I'm going to be so tight on money, I want to finish the college BS for that reason, but at the same time, I still have no idea if it's what I really want to do (M.E.). I mean, I want to learn everything there is to learn about designing stuff, but at the same time, holy crap, it's amazingly boring sometimes. I wouldn't mind just owning some business and doing that kind of stuff either. I really have no damn clue what I want to do, and no matter how much I think about it, I'm lost.

I sit here drinking my cheap ass beer, while my wife and child sleep. What makes me do this ? I love that POS sitting in the garage.

Hang in there man. Time is definitely on your side. You're only 25...that gives you plenty of time for things to turn for the better. Just take things slow, man. I was slapped in the face with medical bills two years ago and was more pissed off and frustrated than I have been in a long time (which didn't go to helping my condition). While all that was happening my car was down, I had just sold my other and was borrowing wheels left and right. Things will get better.

Just to me it does not seem that way. I've lived here with my mom for a little over a year now and have accomplished nothing...I hate that.

What makes it worse is that I have had a few opportunities arise but lost them due to car trouble. I had an interview with Mercedes for sale's, I had an interview with ADP, I had an interview with Trojan Batteries, I had an interview with Costco, etc..etc..all lost due to this fucking POS car I have in the garage. Job's that would have gotten me out of this hell.

Its a car. Sell it. There are always other better deals out there, you can always get another one later. It seems that your car is hindering you from progressing in your life...that's a huuuge deal. Sell the hunk of metal.

You may just have to get rid of it for whatever you can get and buy a dependable beater. You can always get another down the road ;)

if you want reliable transportation, go buy a honda civic.. they're cheap on parts, AND gas! :)

i dont get it, ask us what you need to do to get the car running and stay running. What have you replaced what is the problem?

I have 2 pretty much perfect reliable 3s's... my highly modded 3k did stall out on me while coasting to a stop and it can stutter a little when cold, but the stealth runs perfect. Neither car has ever truly let me down. Not once. I dont daily drive them though but they have been running great for 3 years.

These cars are simple... things that fail, fail on other cars but seriously get a civic or something. I don't get it?

These cars aren't simple, are you kidding me? lol.. Our cars are ALWAYS seen on flatbeds. They aren't reliable, they dont have cheap parts, they chug gas like a thirsty ethiopian kid, and they are expensive to fill up with gas also, especially with these gay gas prices lately.

If you can't afford the parts, the gas, the tow truck fees, then buy a civic. Drive that until you get back on your feet.

Our cars are complicated. Engine wise and electrical. If you dont have the service manual, then your shit out of luck.

Haven't you heard of the saying "3S cars turn people into mechanics"?

I really appreciate the insight from everyone but what do you guys think I've been doing? I've tried to sell the car for almost a year now. No one wants a broke down VR4 that doesn't run. I managed to get the parts needed to get it back on the road and hopefully it will be traded / sold next week if all goes according to plan. It's not as easy as just going out and buying a Honda Civic...that requires money, I don't have any and anytime I get any, these damn cars need it. Just like our Eclipse that is now about to need an engine. I JUST replaced the transmission which set me back about 1200$ total which was going to be used to get us another car.

The sad thing is that I am a mechanic. You can ask anyone who knows me, I am 100% golden when it comes to fixing everyone elses car. It just happens that I have no luck with my own...hell, our Eclipse didn't start having major issues until I put it in my name...lol...I've browsed craigslist and used word of mouth to find a 500$ car that at least runs and drives...then everytime I find something, its either sold or it has a major issue. I do know I need to work on certain things though, like: working on "friends" cars for little or no money. I am severely guilty of that. I've been getting calls left and right almost daily from people / shops that I know of that need work done but I've had no way to get out to do the work or they have no money.

I dunno, I guess just the time it takes to get anything accomplished while your broke is taking a toll on me, I feel like I am in prison. I did at least find one good thing today...I thought my credit was down in the 400's from the loss of my house a little over a year ago but no...I'm in the high 500's...yea it's a horrible credit score but at least I can work with it.

i'm sorry to hear man, i wasn't ranting out on you, just proving a point lol. What is wrong with your VR4?

I heard the automotive industry took a huge dive. I WAS gonna be going to school for automotive service technician, BUT since i seen this huge dive, I'm gonna be going for diesel mechanic instead.

Sorry to hear about your state of the moment but,you gotta have faith. It may take a while but it will turn around. My experience tells me that sometimes Life has to be pretty hard on you to make you be happy with what you have.My wife and I were both out of job ,no family around and down to our last dollar.I got a job and kept working ,she eventually got a job and we managed to get back on our feet.
You are really lucky to have a girlfriend and a family that will help you get through this and yes, you will get through it. It is already starting to get better for you,you said it yourself that your credit score is better than you thought. That's a start!
Keep your head up,it will get better,I promise you.
