Check Engine Light Flashes When Stopped??

OK, so I'm driving, and I get to a stop sign, and I look down, to see my CEL flashing nonstop? When I started driving again, it disappeared, only to reappear when I stopped again? The car is driving fine, there are no other issues that I know of besides the ECS. It does it randomly, no rhyme or reason as to when it will or won't do this. Only happens when I'm at a dead stop though. Anyone got any idea? I've never heard of this before.

Well, I know when checking codes on a 94/95 and grounding the proper pin (the pin # escapes me right now) that if there are no codes that the CEL will just flash. I guess its possible a wire is getting pinched in either the clutch pedal or brake pedal is pinching a wire.

I actually had an issue once where a small bundle of wires had made their way from under the dash and every once in a while when I pushed the clutch in it would pop the ignition fuse. That one took me a few days to diagnose.

As stealthee said, the 84-95 hybrid ecu will flash the codes at the CEL if the diagnostic output terminal is grounded. If there are no codes, you will get a steady flash. The possibilities are a wire grounding out, a problem with the ECU, or a problem with another module on the system.

If it's still plugged in, my money is on the ECS computer...

You can confirm the theory by monitoring the voltage on pin 1 of the DLC, if it gets pulled low when the light starts flashing, you know you're on the right track, then you just have to find where it's being shorted...

I'll try unplugging the ecs computer. There are a few mystery issues with this new car. It also doesn't measure air volume at the DLC, even though the maf is sending a good strong signal to the ECU. Thanks for the help guys. I'll check it out and report back.
