    My word against theirs...

Looking for some advice/opinions here. Just got an email from Enterprise rent a car, saying that I owe them ~$1000 for damages to a car I rented while on business last week. I had the car for less than 24 hours, no accidents took place, and it was parked in a safe location where no one could have hit the front of the car (which is where the damage is that they say I am responsible for.)

Now, I had an early flight the next day, so I turned the car into their parking garage (and where I parked, the front end couldn't be damaged) at about 5am. They weren't there that early, so I dropped the keys in the drop box, and made my flight.

I've already responded that the damage did not occur in my possession, but it's my word vs theirs. Advice?

See if they have video of someone hitting it in the parking garage.

We follow the earth. The earth follows the stars. The stars know their way and though the body dies. The stars will remain, like the waves of the sea and restless slate.

It would be impossible to hit it in the front in the parking garage where I parked it. My guess is that one of their people, when moving the car, hit something with it. Also, it's been over a week since I turned it in, and I'm just hearing about it now. I'm sure lots of people have driven/moved the car in that timeframe.

Tell them to fuck off. They have the car covered on insurance.

To expound upon that thought...see if there is video of you driving the car in with NO damage. This sounds like it's going to be a tough fight.

That also poses a problem though... the damage is not significant at all, I don't think it would even show up on a security camera. They sent me some close up pics of it. One headlight is scuffed up but not cracked, the part of the fender that meets the headlight looks like it is pushed up a tiny bit, and there is a small scratch on the front bumper at that corner. To me, it looks like they were backing it out and turned the wheel and just barely scraped the front corner of the car against something.

Couldn't he just not pay them? The burden of proof lies upon the accuser. If they have his credit/debit card number freeze the card/account. Also, report them to the BBB regardless of the outcome.
