    Cold compression #s

So, the little rubber piece that goes onto the turbo had some dry rot, and somehow (no idea how! got sucked into my rear turbo, there is like a 1" piece of the rubber missing from it, and the turbo wheel is chewed up nicely.

I popped the ypipe off and sure enough, some metal/rubber made it thru the stock smic, and undoubtedly into the motor itself. I was hoping that the particles could have gone in and out w/o damaging the valves.

I did a COLD compression test and these are the results...

    1 - 175
    3 - 157
    5 - 160

    2 - 165
    4 - 159
    6 - 164

They're all pretty close in range, but isnt 160+ high for a cold test?

    Thanks

Those numbers are high for even a warm 8:1 engine. Are you sure you have a TT engine in there?

Those numbers look fine to me. We have had 4 TT motors in the family in the past 5 years and the three that got new motors have all had about 155-165 psi cold compression. I wouldn't worry about what you have.

Having said that, there is a different issue with whether or not there is any debris that could make its way into the engine in the future. With that in mind, especially since you've already found debris very near the engine. I would pull both upper and lower intake plenums and check for any remaining foreign material. Once you determine there isn't any more debris, I'd put it back together and call it good.

Shot in the dark here. But, is it the original engine? Or is it a rebuilt with a milled block and heads?

Its the stock 91' motor w/ 53k miles, 100% sure on that. I took a snake cam and stuck it in the cylinders, they seemed ok, no scratches or any other visible damage. Same deal with the lower plenum, i saw no debris in there either.

I'm assuming its ok to throw it all back together?

    Thanks
