Thread: Helicoil size for the lower intake manifold.

    I'd think about the 3Sx stud kit....I just installed it on my car and am pleased with it. Because these things will continue to strip, one at a time, trust me, lol.

    Not if you torque them properly! They only call for 12 ft/lbs (IIRC)...either that or 7 ft/lbs.

    It still happens. Each of the 2 or 3 times it's happened to me i was using a T-wrench. I typically use a T-wrench for everything. The AL threads will weaken over time...
    Edit: And more importantly, look at how much thread engagement there actually is into the lower manifold...not very much which is also part of the problem. If they would have added a few more threads I'd agree with you (maybe).

    I am having them all helicoiled so that I wont have that problem anymore.
