Ok no seriously, I dropped my trans this weekend for a tob swap and found the clutch springs everywhere, so I put in a used centerforce I had laying around and bolted everything back up. Went to start the car and everything is normal. Throw it in reverse and back up off of the lift and when I put the car in 1st gear to take off out of the shop, the car rolls forward like usual but I have to give it more gas than usual to get it rolling.
Hmm feels weird I thought to myself, but here comes the weird part, upon releasing the clutch pedal I have to FLOOR the gas to keep it running and it bogs and jerks like crazy. The car is obviously in 3rd gear or something somehow because when I finally do get the momentum to keep the car rolling I can easily do 40+mph at normal cruising rpms.....so my question is: What in the hell did I screw up when bolting the shift linkage back on to make it to where 3rd gear is now selected when the shifter is in 1st position???? I have an idea in my head but thought I'd give you guys a crack at it as well....enjoy
