If you are okay with tossing the ECS then pick up some KYB GR-2s. They're less than the ECS struts and mate up to lowering springs just as well

I have the JIC Magic coilovers. They allow you to make a lot of separate adjustments.

Nothing wrong with a full set of fresh OEM struts, really. OEM struts can take some lowering without too much hassle and shortening of their life span, all depending on how low you want to go of course.
The ride quality and feel of my car improved a billion times when I replaced my old 100k miles struts with a new set of OEM's. That and some H&R springs really made for a nice ride.

I have never ridden in a car with GR-2's, but brand new ECS struts feel fantastic for the price.

Mine has the GR-2's. They may have been worn out when I bought the car, but it's always been a stiff ride, even before lowering. However, mine is non-ECS. Just a side note, Maximal has the Meagan coil-overs on sale right now, something to consider.

Over Here in the UK, These are the ones that every body raves about. Much better than Teins and You can drop the car so low that you would not be able to drive it.

as has been mentioned the stock ECS struts/shocks are rather good when not worn out.

The thing about the BC racing inverted coil overs is that unlike Teins and the like the ride quality is not too harsh about the same as Your ECS in sport mode.
