Paul I do not think it is as much as the teacher being a pussy. The teacher was in a lose lose situation.

Defend yourself:

you are the 27 year old, 5'-10", 220 pound, ex-football player that beat up a 6 year old, 4'-2", 50 pound, first grader.

You are then sued by the parents, fired from the school, probably never get a teaching job again.

Take the temper tantrum:

I would not really say "beat up" per say, but a kick was landed just right that cause some serious damage to his ankle and knee.


What gets me worked up is the parents response, typical "victim" card. If that was my kid, I would not be have the press quoting me about how ridiculous this is and how could my son possibly cause... YADA YADA YADA"

the karate kicking and biting has me wondering if the child has had any formal self defense training?

I'm not in the kid's corner on this, by any stretch.

Teachers these days don't have a lot of leeway to discipline students, and as to the recourse he's seeking, that's just par for the course.

The only comment-worthy item is the fact he was a physically-imposing ex-football player whose feelings are hurt, along with his knee and ankle.

I was sort of joking around but you would think the kid could have been restrained without getting injured.
