1998 3000GT Won't Start - Lights flicker on and off

    1998 3000GT SOHC FWD

I shut off the engine last night and then decided I needed to back the car up a few feet within seconds of shutting it off. I tried to start it back up and "nothing". The battery appeared dead - no voltage on the gauge.

I hooked up my battery charger overnight and it was green and charged this morning. So I tried to start it. All I got was a few clicks in the dash and nothing. I haven't had a chance to test the starter or see if there is any juice going to it (rode my bike to work).

The weird thing is, I turned on my headlights and they went on and off along with a clicking sound in the dash (some selenoid I assume). Then my radio did the same thing when I turned off the headlights.

I've never had a car with a starter issue do weird possessed things with the lights before. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions (I know I have to check the starter etc . . . but this was strange).

    Thanks,

    Mike

You check if the terminals are tight? and/or keep the jumper cables on it while you try to crank it.
Circa 2005... Oh my, how far I've come

It's also possible the ignition switch contacts are worn.

    Yeah, the battery was toast.

Replaced the battery and changed the connectors on the cable ends and all is well.

Just strange how everything was acting all possessed though . . .
