2 vs 4 bolt external parts

There are several things that are different about the 4 bolt. The oil pan, rear main seal housing, transmission stays, oil pump, and some things that are unclear.

The oil returns have changed part numbers over the years, but the newer number has supplanted the older one, so are the returns interchangable?

I also thought I read on John Monnin's site that the alternator bracket was different, but they look the same to me. Are they different?

    Is there anything else?

front tranny to engine bracket, rear main seal housing, oil pump, oil pan, crank cog, and alternator drive belt tensioner bracket are different. everything else is the same

Front cover also. I stayed with the CAS instead of the crank sensor.

Good to know. I'm getting ready to do this and thought that I could use everything off my 2 bolt on the 4 bolt.

i believe monnin was referring to the 72 vs. 74 block, not the 2-bolt vs. 4-bolt difference.

It's the tensioner bracket, not the alternator bracket

Because the 2g oilpump casting is different, a post of the 2bolt tensioner bracket is too long. hence you have to have a different bracket.

be aware there are differences in the crank sprocket between 2bolt and 4bolt. if you go with the 4bolt sprocket you'll have other considerations but i wont go into that unless you decide to buy it.

sorry, it was the a/c tensioner I was thinking of, not the alternator:

    Parts I modified during 4-bolt main conversion...JOHN MONNIN'S PERSONAL 3000GT/STEALTH FAQ

fyi, I am not doing a 4 bolt conversion, just moving some parts to my new car.

So I can't use the crank cog off the 2-bolt even if I'm usin' the cas?
