5 years ago I ran Autocheck on my next TT. It came back clean. When I ran the Carfax a month after the purchase, it showed that it was totaled in 92. (this was in 2007)
I don't know if Autocheck has improved since then, but I was mislead in my purchase.
If you have any doubts and are serious about buying the car, it might be worth getting a CarFax as well. I've obtained both a CarFax and AutoCheck for all of my vehicles, and the reports are pretty similar. AutoCheck has a few entries CarFax doesn't have, and visa versa. From what I've read, CarFax has some exclusive deals set up with dealerships and some bodyshops, while AutoCheck has their own collection of exclusive bodyshops and access to all of the major auto auction databases.
Just glancing over some of the reports I've run so far, it definitely lists minor accidents (including location of damage), and it does a really good job of listing if the car has ever been totaled or not. I've seen quite a bit of both.
As with any car you're about to purchase, you should do some inspecting yourself. I've heard of a lot of people doing their own repairs or taking their car to small bodyshops that don't report what they're fixing.
Want me to send you a new report for the TT you purchased?

Thanks a ton, going to look at it today!
Actually yes, I'll send over both VINs later today. (I just picked up another.) I have the carfax for both, would be interested to compare.
Thanks.
