Haha!
The GTI will be pushing ~180-190 at the crank (hopefully!) with 400 pounds less weight. It's not much slower now, especially to 60 since the BRZ's 2nd doesn't quite get to 60 with the stock revlimit. It would be very hard to compare both of them on the same course, I'm not very comfortable yet pushing the BRZ like I am the GTI. The GTI is "safe" in that it will just understeer when you floor it, so you can very easily play with the throttle to make the car turn tighter or wider. The BRZ understeers in steady state cornering, but any sort of overstep with the throttle and you can end up sideways which was not a problem on the GTI.
Another thing, the BRZ has EBFD (electronic brake force distribution) which feels very weird. It feels like the car wants to move around while threshold braking just because the ABS system is trying to modulate the grip for you. Very odd sensation, but it's obviously a lot better than my GTI's "dumb" brakes. Not confidence inspiring though.
I'm really looking forward to pushing the BRZ around a bit this weekend, I think it will be spectacular once I'm feeling more comfortable. I haven't driven a RWD car since my first car, which was a big motivator to get the BRZ over a Fiesta ST.
