I'm not young, well like what you're suggesting anyway. I'm 36, and been married for 11.5 years, and have my homeowners through the same company as my auto(basically every deduction there is). My insurance did not drop when I turned 25, nor did it drop when I got married. I'm exploring some other options to see if I can save a few bucks.

Michigan has a "No Fault" policy. This means for every two car accident, two insurance companies are paying out. Your insurance rate is not solely based on your driving ability, it is based on the sum average of everyone in your county.

You get T-boned by some guy that blew a stop sign, "No Fault" of his! Both of you submit claims to your insurance company and both of your insurance companies pay out. Factor in that severe budget cutbacks at state and local levels have forced the Detroit area to cutback on policing, and you have people driving around with no insurance with no fear of being caught.
Deroit Police Officers Start 12-Hour Shifts

In an "At Fault" state, you would submit your claims and the guy who was AT FAULT would be paying out. Indiana is an "At Fault" state.

That's right, I knew that, but forgot. WV is at an at fault State. The big problem here is fraud. People wreck and burn their cars, on purpose, to collect insurance money. Of course, everyone gets to pay for that.

Michigan's "no-fault" is not in play (or at least it wasn't - I don't know, these days) if you hit a parked car.

I had an old broad back out of her driveway, right across the street - she didn't even try to bend the wheel - and just about tear the entire front-end off one of my Mustangs.

Her insurance wanted to give me junkyard parts to fix it - I didn't object, only because I knew they wouldn't find anything in a junkyard, and sure as shit, they ended up coming across with cash; you should have heard the whining, though...

We also have stated value for home insurance policy. So, you state a value, it (miraculously) burns, you get that value paid out. What could go wrong? :/

Interesting on the "no fault" thing, did some poking around the internet...

The 12 states that currently have or include a no-fault car insurance scenario are**:

    Florida,
    Michigan,
    New Jersey,
    New York,
    Pennsylvania,
    Hawaii,
    Kansas,
    Kentucky,
    Massachusetts,
    Minnesota,
    North Dakota,
    Utah.

...should be called "states to avoid"

Ive been paying less than 2grand a year to insure; house, truck, car, 2nd truck, RV, and 2 motorcycles...in california
if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem

Pennsylvania is not no fault. I had a guy have some stuff fall off his truck in front of me in the Stealth and it fucked up my front end. His insurance paid for it. My dad had someone back into him in a parking lot. The insurance of the lady who hit him had to pay for it.

Pennsylvania is a tort state though, but thats completely different.
