That's what I got. All I do is hit one button to see if I have any emails worth reading. Significantly more informative than a flashing LED. I can then go directly to any email on the list.

Guess not all apps are compatible. I have lock screen notifications on for my work email (not in mail app) and it will not show any notifications. Only puts a number on the icon, which cannot be relayed to lock screen. Enabled yahoo mail now for lock screen.

As for LED. Mine flashes different colors for different app notifications. From my lock screen I can pull down the notification drawer to see more details.

That lands on the lap of the developers of the app you're using. Apple's provided the APIs, all the developers have to do is use them. In my case, both Gmail and the built in Mail app notifications are only one click away and waiting for me when I'm ready to check them.

And as I said about the LED; with as many emails as I get every day, the LED is absolutely useless for that purpose.
