Apple's new and intuitive iPhone 5...

    ... is old and copied.

OK, so let's go over every feature and see if Apple literally did ANYTHING new:
    4-inch screen - lol no
5 rows of icons - lol no
Thinnest phone ever - not even factually correct
A6 processor - HTC One X and SIII say hi
    LTE - lol no
Panorama mode/8 megapixel camera - lol no
1080p video recording - lol no
Smaller dock connector - lolol no
GPS turn-by-turn (walking, public transit) - Google Maps lol
iCloud tabs - Chrome desktop sync lol
Fullscreen Safari - All sorts of browsers lol no
    Sharing photos - lol no
Siri movie and sports - Google Now lol no
SMS when you can't take a call - lolololol super no

LITERALLY NOTHING NEW, I mean literally not a single fucking new feature that Android doesn't already do and likely better in many cases. This quite frankly blew so far below my already minimal expectations I'm just dumb-founded. Not even ONE NEW FEATURE? Incredible.

No NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB, widgets, SD storage, notification LED, etc. I shouldn't be so happy to see Apple putting out such a fail product but I am. It really is incredible how far Google, Samsung, and HTC have blown past Apple the last couple years.
Just to copy someone else's comment.

While Apple has always had something new in the past, now their big announcement is nothing but outdated crap. Not a single thing iSheep can claim is better or newer than Android (without being ignorant and wrong).

So what did apple say about Samsung copying Apple? I think the more appropriate quote should be Steve Jobs when talking about being shameless about stealing.

the lawsuits are because apple saw the writing on the wall: they can't out innovate their competition.

The phones perform well, but I just don't get how people can't see past the android phones that are pretty much superior in every facet.

Had a friend who recently dropped her droid bionic for an iphone. 1st thing she asks? How do I download music? She didn't like the iTunes answer, nor did she like the workarounds that require a computer...that she doesn't have. Baaa baaa baaa.

While I was slightly disappointed that Apple didn't have any real aces up their sleeves (most of this info was leaked weeks ago), this is still a pretty solid update.

When Apple does get around to doing something, they generally do it right (e.g. copy & paste, notifications, multi-tasking etc). I think the taller screen, versus a wider screen, was a wise choice in buying more screen real estate without it looking like you're smuggling a tablet in your pocket.

Apple can't innovate all the time, but as someone who enjoys their products, there's always going to be a part of me that hopes they one-up the competition.

I will say making the screen bigger, albeit still behind the curve slightly, was a much needed improvement. Kind of a slap in the face to the consumers when the display size hasn't changed since the original. Hold an S3, they aren't that big. Admittedly, I was one that thought the S3 was huge based on its specs. But, I've played around with a few, and they are very manageable. Still prefer my droid4 for the physical keyboard, and I'm a moto fanboi.

I actually own a GNex and a 4S (work phone). Apps I have on my android are cheaper or free compared to iTunes. One app I have has a free version or pro version $0/$5. The equivalent on apple is $5/$10.

I can see how those heavily invested in iTunes don't want to leave, but I think in the long run you will save on android. Everything is more expensive on iPhone.

The iPhone 5 only has one positive I can see, "8 hrs screen on time" or so they claim.

It's an interesting contradiction. For the longest time, we have been fighting to make our mobile phones smaller, more mobile, etc. On the flipside of that coin, we've been wanting larger screens to watch our media on. I supposed you can't easily have it both ways, but what I will say is that the size of some Android devices are becoming borderline ridiculous. It's not difficult, nor innovative, to make your screen larger (in fact, it's probably easier) -- but rather, in Apple's case, it was probably about trying to find a happy middle-ground.

I never understood why the iPhone screen wasn't 16:9 to begin with, though.

I don't have numbers but I bet the gnex and s3 accomplish this with larger screen and same size phone.

Also Nick, what are you talking about, man?

Many of the most commonly used apps that are cross-platform are comparably priced. One example that comes to mind is the very app you used to post your hate: Tapatalk.

    $2.99 - Android
    $2.99 - iOS

Other popular apps: Dropbox, Pandora, Shazam, Netflix, Fandango, Facebook, Twitter, Mint, Evernote, Skype, Yelp, Photoshop Express, etc -- all free, on both platforms.

As far as paid apps, just to pull a few from my phone (Android vs iOS):

    Max Payne ($2.99 vs $2.99)
    GTA3 ($4.99 vs $4.99)
Tetris by EA ($2.99 vs $0.99) - iOS is cheaper!
Fruit Ninja ($1.22 vs $0.99) - iOS is cheaper, again
    Avengers Initiatives ($6.99 vs $6.99)
Need for Speed: Shift ($4.99 vs $4.99)

^- I had to do a search for top 'paid apps', as about 90% of the apps on my phone were all free.

But as the results show, the app pricing between the two platforms aren't that bad (in favor of one over the other). Even if they were, developers gotta get paid.

No flash video? Not interested. Half of the time I want to do something on my iPad I have to get on the desktop computer. But, my android phone does everything.
