    Internet problems

Quick question for you IT guys. I'm at work and we have no internet connection to any of the wired computers, however there is a strong wireless connection.

Whats weird is I tried hooking a PC directly to the modem but still got no connection. Granted I was using a few random pieces of Ethernet cable but the light was on showing it saw a connection.

    Anyone have any clues?

Just because the wireless signal shows up strong does not mean the internet should work. The router's job is to just provide a wireless "network" this network dosen't always have to have a acrtive internet connection. Good troubleshooting though going directly to the modem. Bypass the router all together and start there just plug a cable into the modem see if you get internet. If you do the problem persists with the router and if you do not get internet the problem is with the modem. Always try power cycling the modem first and than make sure all lights are active on the modem. If this still dosen't fix the issue might want to try reseting the modem with the hard switch. If by than it still dosen't work there's a bigger issue going on maybe a break in a line somewhere outside or something internal from your ISP. Hope this helps you.

Just to update this, there ended up being a whole host of issues. My boss ended up pinging the router or something to get everything back.
