My one complaint on my gopro is the audio feature. Mine suffers from annoying clicking/popping which I think is due to vibration transfer through the mount to the sealed case. When I use it out of it's case the audio sounds great. And apparently the newer models (HD models) have an isolation piece for the mount along with other cool stuff like the vented case back etc.

I plan on drilling some strategic holes in my camera case and then placing foam between the case and camera as a wind screen. I am hopeful that actually allow sound to make it into the case will help fix the issue or at least make it better.

Seems like I saw a “how to” on the net to hook a mic to an older go pro.

I guess there is a way to go through the data port. You have to register but you can get info here on how to do it.

Nice work. You can even use a set of earbuds as mics if you want stereo

Well, they will be stereo but the sound card input most likely won't be.

    Thread revival...

Toni, any recommendations for a microphone? I've got my Hero3 on the roll bar (in 'the frame' so I can hook it up to a laptop to make sure it's aimed where I want) and love the video quality, but the audio is OK at best.

Hmm, not really. I got a small mid priced mic from local electronics store. I haven't tried any others to see if they are better/worse. Tried to find it to see what model it was but I can't find it now.

Adam, This one works so amazingly well. It does take about 2-3 weeks to get here, but at this price who cares. It's fantastic for what it is.
