I've been spending the week nights trying not to aggravate my right elbow (team was depending on me to pitch 7+ innings every weekend), so I've seen a lot more of the olympics than I normally do... But the championship just ended (we lost game 3, 3 to 4, in 10 innings), so now I'm back in the garage and probably won't watch much more

I saw you wondered why I thought Lochte was a d-bag in a previous thread.

    1) his intro vid -- he basically said no one has worked as hard as he has (or lifted as many tires, LOL) and they're all intimidated by him
    2) after winning gold in the first race vs Phelps, he was asked how it felt to "dethrone Phelps" (f you, dumb b), and rather than complementing Phelps or saying he hasn't dethroned him yet, he basically said 'it feels great'.
    3) taking pictures with his gold medal and his 'grill' ......
    4) blowing the lead in the 4x relay, snatching silver from the jaws of gold, and immediately excusing his effort saying, "it's not my specialty" ... Take some f'ing responsibility you POS!
    5) blowing a potential silver in the 200m free to finish FOURTH the next night. He's suddenly MUCH more humble in the post-race interview...

I don't have time to type out the rest, but he's an ass. Phelps made him look like the classless d-bag he is. I thoroughly enjoyed rooting against him.

I have watched just about every moment of the Olympics that NBC has decided is important enough to broadcast. I've been watching every night, including the horribly boring opening ceremony. Have to avoid the media, all day, so it's actually a surprise in the evening.

I 2nd Adam that Lochte is a douchebag.

yep...that's why american football is an international sport, because it's SO popular.

    p.s.

the ref did NOT decide that match. tancredi stomped on lloyd's face WELL before that so called "disputed call", and tancredi never got penalized at all from that incident. you add up the calls made and the calls missed, and the game came out even on ref calls: the better team won.

    p.p.s.

i'm betting brian has never watched a full game of professional soccer in his entire life--let alone women's professional soccer. "only 15 seconds of action"? rofl. at least in soccer there's no guaranteed virtually guaranteed scoring when the ball is 10 yards off the goal line.

I tried watching the soccer, I couldn't sit through a whole game. Sorry, that shit is boring. I'll watch the highlight reel, or the last 15 minutes of the game. That's it.

same thing could be said for any sport...if all you want is "the highlight reel". i suppose that's why sports-center is such a highly rated show: americans haven't the attention span (or time) for a full game of anything. i know i really don't have 3 hours to devote to watching a game of football.

Thaddeus has been overseas too long. He is starting to refer to us as "Americans" almost like he himself isnt.

I will happily watch an entire game of basketball, an entire set of volleyball, hell, I'll even watch the horses prancing around for 30 minutes and a ping pong tournament. Can't watch a full soccer game.
