A friend of a friend writes for an auto blog, and we got the invite to hang out at MSR Houston yesterday while they shot various promo work with a million-plus dollars worth of cars. (It adds up quickly in $250k chunks...).

Once all the promo stuff was done, we did what was right to do in 'MERICA and drag raced them down the pit straight.

And here's one of Michael Mills (EFFORT Racing driver) hooning up the AMG.

Side note: the 2013 GT500 sounds phenominal. The one on hand was $64k as optioned... and as new cars go, SVT is putting *a lot* in there for the money.

Side note 2: The MP4-12C is just fucking cool.

Actually there were two MP4-12Cs in attendance. McLaren brought the orange one out for the promo work, and they also have a black one on extended loan to MSR-H to... entice people to buy them. This one was on a lift with the wheels off and I got some pics of it (doing its best 3S impersonation... hovercar!).

Yeah it was. The MP4-12C is just unbelievably cool. So over-engineered it's just right.
