Cop put himself in a bad spot. If the dude was dumb enough to just drive off in city traffic, you could probably just keeping walking with him and finish writing the ticket.

Stand in front of the car, he has no where to go, and if he still hits you. Then, okay beat down time.

The rap cops get these days also is not in his best interest to go ripping a guy out of his car in the middle of a city and jumping on top of him and detaining him like he took a swing at a cop.

Just my opinion, poorly handled on both parties. One idiot was dumb enough to think he could drive off. The other idiot cop thought he was really going to stop the car with his foot or something? Just walk to the front of the car or dont let him into the car in the first place..

Didn't handle it correctly at all... Did not maintain professionalism in doing his job.

Police officers are human just like the rest of us... While he's going to get a lot of flack for his unprofessional behavior, he was being disrespected, assaulted and a lawful order was disobeyed. My personal feelings are that the guy deserved what he got... I have a hard time finding fault with the overall outcome of the situation.

Guy in the Ferrari is an idiot. Did the cop purposely scratch it? I don't really see what the officer did wrong.

The arrogant prick in the Ferrari got what he deserved. How does anyone think what the cop did was in ANY way wrong or NOT what you would do? He didn't punch the guy, pepper spray him or tazer him. Simply yelled at him to get out of the car then kinda help drag him out.

If the ticket wasnt completed you dont have to sit there and wait for him to finish. The cop was being a dick and didnt want him to leave because he has to reach a monthly quota. Its happened to me in the past. The ferrari owner was a prick and should have stopped when the cop was leaning on to his car. Ive had my mom drive over my foot by accident in a dodge caravan, and it wasnt bad at all, But the cop getting run over by a light weight ferrari... come on!

Do you know that for a fact or are you just saying that?

I've had a few run ins with the law in my younger days, and if you are detained by a police officer, yes, you DO have to stay there. It's no different than being pulled over for speeding, then trying to leave while he's in his car writing the ticket or standing by your door writing it. Either one of those actions would get you a charge of evading arrest/detention.

As far as being charged with assault, that's pretty stupid, and I'm sure this guy can afford a good lawyer to get that charge dropped.

Thats how it is in NY Ive seen plenty of people walk over to the cop when he pulls out his pen and pad, and the cop will let them go since he did not initiated writing the ticket, but again some cops are nice and some are dicks. Well you really can't leave if they block your exit, but in most cases they will give you a warning.

Just to clarify cause I may have stated it wrong, you can leave if he/she hasn't started writing the ticket. Once they begin they wont stop. And once they start writing it and you leave, they can mail you the ticket.

For those not reading the back story, the cop HAD begun to write the ticket, the driver tried to snatch it out of his hand, then went inside of the hotel. We pick up where the cop continues to write the ticket and the driver comes back out and tries to leave.
Cop did not maintain his professionalism, but the driver absolutely should be charged.
And yes, there are asshole cops out there---but not all of them are.

Now knowing that I stand corrected. However the owner trying to snatch the ticket from the officer should have been enough to arrest him.

I don't see what the cop did wrong here...he clearly positioned himself in such a was as to stop the driver...the driver used his car as a weapon know full well he'd hit the cop...and you can't expect a police officer to arrest you politely when you've already shown that you're more than willing to use a car, or any other weapon to assault them...I'm surprised the cop didn't pull his sidearm on the guy.

Simply put, you do not use a vehicle to try to get people out of the way. (and yes, I've had to freak out on someone before for trying to push me out of the way with their car, due to their inability to use words and their impatience with me doing my job).
"This is a ridiculous cause and effect suggestion."
"Yeah, kind of like the sun rising and then morning happening, eh? What are they trying to pull on us?"

"If I wanted to hear from an asshole, I'd fart into a microphone."

"It's easy. Take the last f*ck, and let it go, and thus you shall have no more f*cks to give."
