    Beating Breast Cancer

    I'm begging for your help.

This week I'm going to be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day to beat breast cancer. For those who don't know what it is, I'll be walking just over 60 miles in 3 days. All funds go to finding new, better treatments to fight and beat breast cancer.

In order to walk, I have to raise a total of $2300. I only have until Tuesday to do that, so I need all the help I can get.

To donate, all you have to do is visit the 3-Day and click on the "donate" tab. Search for a participant, then enter my name (Lori Sheffield). They make it so easy!! You could even set up a payment plan and I get credit for all of it right away.

I've been pretty fortunate... I've never lost anyone really close to me to this horrible disease, but I've certainly known people who have been lost (most recently was Brenda, of course), and I know many, many who have fought or are fighting. I'm walking so no one else has to go through that. I'm always praying for a prevention.

I hope you'll help, for all the women in your lives. But don't forget - men can get this disease, too. I know of one now who's dying from it. Every dollar helps me get closer to my goal, but also helps get closer to a prevention, too.

Thanks for considering. I know it's short notice.

    Lori

P.S. If you have a family member or close friend who has been affected, could you please PM me their name? We have t-shirts that we'll be wearing that have been signed by people who have been diagnosed to constantly remind us why we're walking. I'd love to add the name of someone you care about, too. If it's not breast cancer and you just want someone added, let me know. I'm happy to do that, too.

I am a male breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in the first week of September 2007 and had my right breast mastectomy on 9/11/2007. You have my support and prayers for all who are afflicted by this disease.

Thank you sooooo much for the support! You guys can't possibly know what this means to me. My mom was a nurse who always stood up for causes like this. I know she'd be so proud of me for doing it... And yet I'm doing it without the support of nearly all my family. I have one cousin who has helped, and my birth mother has helped me out. No one else has even offered so much as a good thought... So thank you. I really needed to know that people care about this cause and about helping me. Milt, could I possibly add your name to our t-shirts? If not, I understand. If it's ok, I'd like to do it.
