Ok again, hope you're not doing this on public roads, man. Top-Speed runs on public roads are usually more dangerous than drag-racing. What if you blow a tire at 145?
Also, here's why you shouldn't worry about anything that you brought up.
1. Top speed is irrelevant. Acceleration is the fun bit. Kids always ask me how fast my car goes and what the 'speedometer goes to' as if it's a measurement of car-peen. Unless you're drag racing, the butt-dyno is all that matters. You drive it 'cause it feels fast until it doesn't feel fast anymore, then you mod it. Besides, how much time do you spend at top-speed compared to accelerating?
2. Top speed is unreliable. Speedo's are off constantly, sometimes upwards of 10mph or more depending on tires/wheels/mods. Your car could be 'off' because somebody put slightly oversized tires on your car, or slightly undersized on your old car, for example, but those are one of a dozen reasons why this is wrong.
3. There is nothing remotely scientific about these methods you're using man, you have to allow for some room for error and a 10% margin of error isn't outside the realm of possibility. Two different cars, two different days, two different body styles (I'll get to this in a minute) compounded with the aforementioned fluctuations in reported top-speed all leads me to say that even comparing these two cars in top speed is an exercise in futility.
4. Just because something looks more aerodynamic doesn't make it so. If it's the case where you have some experience in aerodynamics then I retract this statement.
I love hearing about people getting into these cars. It's like a club. We all have fun. We've all done some dumb things in our cars. These cars are, however, becoming more and more rare and I would hope that each one that people own for a better reason than "because it's pretty" is well taken care of.
And finally, in the spirit of providing a solution rather than just pointing out flaws, if you're truly concerned about it, put the car on a real dyno to get the true HP number because often you can find that you're missing more or less than you'd expect and start the troubleshooting there.
Also, you can use this: Gear Ratio Speed Calculator
This will tell you your car's top speeds in each gear if you input the right info.
Have fun and please stay safe, man.

still hasn't provided the weight of the car he's comparing it to. if it's a 2000 lbs car with 170hp, then i'm certainly not surprised.
weight of my old car was right at 3000 lbs I believe the 3000gt is sitting right around 3200 if I'm not mistaken so not to much of a difference. but I think it's irrelvent to compare at this point anyways as I have read on other forums and now even here in my own thread that my car should be doing 140+ mph as others have gotten theres to do, so obviusly something is wrong I just don't know what.
Use a speedometer app on your phone (they're free) that'll be more accurate than your speedo. And like others have said, if you have different sized wheels, in diameter, not width, that'll throw the speedometer off.
Could also be that you aren't making the horsepower to get there. Also like said top speed is only a factor of horsepower, aerodynamics and gearing, so assuming your completely stock, aero and gearing would tell you that you can reach about 140, that just leaves horsepower as to whats limiting you.
