New Car Pearl White 95 R/T TT

A buddy and mine left Cape Girardeau Missouri at 12:00 AM Friday night. The idea was that after work I'd sleep for 4 or 5 hours and be in good shape. Unfortunately I couldn't get to sleep and we left for Oklahoma City and I'd been up since 8 on Thursday.

We drove through the night and made it to jrod's dealership at 8:30 or so, but he was waiting on a notary for the title, so we got some breakfast.

About 10 we bought the car and started to head back. I had zero problems with it except I was just devastedly tired. We finally got back to cap around 8:00 PM. 16 hours of driving on no sleep was not fun. I don't think I will try it again.

I bought it with the knowledge that something is wrong with the transmission. 1st and 2nd gear have decided to take a vacation. I suspect that the roll pin has fallen out of the shift fork, but won't know until I get it taken apart. It could be the slider or something else with the fork, it is really strange. I'm able to find 1st and 2nd sometimes, but not usually.

Amazingly the car has enough torque to start in 3rd with just a bit of extra clutch slip to get going, so that is what I did coming home. It was about 550 miles each way.

The car is in amazing condition. Stock except for exhaust. It is in such great shape, the seats aren't even worn. The door panels are flawless, I think it must have been garaged most of its life.

95,500 miles when I got it. I have a stock of papers an inch think of maintenance. The engine pulls very strong for running stock boost. It pulled the huge hills in 6th easily, I never had to downshift.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do exactly about the trans. If there is major interal damage the rebuilt 5 speed and billet transfercase from my 1992 is going to go into it. If the damage is minor I'm considering sending the bellhousing to ray for a brace and fixing it. The 6 speeds are relatively ok with a bellhousing brace. Worst case is I could wipe out the transfer case gears, but I plan to run street tires, so it may be fine.

I could then sell my billet case and put a stock t-case in the 1992. lots of decisions.

The DR750s, the FMIC, stop techs, and the stereo stuff is coming out of the 1992 and going into this one. I'm probably going to swap the seats too, since the ones in the 1992 are custom. Seems a shame though since the stock ones in the 1995 are almost perfect.

I'm going to put the stock turbos and fuel management into the 1992 and sell it as stockish. It will still have a rebuilt engine, so I hope to get a decent price for it. Its keeping the 99 bumper as well. The 96 spoiler will go on the 95 when I have enough money to paint it. The 1992 will get its original spoiler back.

At least for now the car is going to stay stealth. I may eventually put a 99 nose on it, but we'll see.

Jared is a great seller and sent tons of pics. He was very honest about everything and went out of his way to make me know what I was getting.

Here is a pic from jrod, I'll get some of it tomorrow before I start tearing out the trans to see what's up.

I am going to swap my konigs and s-tech/bilsteins on it as well. It already has the knock off tanabe, so I may keep that. It is a little more mellow than the atr, but still sounds good. It is going to be a ton of work, but I think it will be very nice when I'm done swapping mods over.

Looks just like my 95 white Stealth except I have a 99 front end. My paint on the bumper isn't in as good of shape though. I think you'll like the car though. My 6-speed 3rd gear grinds if I shift fast. Instead of worrying about the bell housing, end case, and ultimately the transfercase gears I'm just swapping my 5-speed and SS transfercase in. I plan to need an upgraded driveline for my car plus everything under the car is getting restored.

I bought a longblock from him to use for my stroker internals plus some road racing tires and had no issues. You should have got a ride in his TT Viper. That would have woke you up!

What is the mileage on the body of your VR-4?
95 RT/TT Billet TD04s E70, DW1000cc injectors, ARC-2 with 92mm maf, 3SX fuel rail loop, hotwired Walbro 416/485, 3" FMIC, single small Krank vent, DR 3.5" downpipe and cat-back, DNP 02 housings, Hallman Pro MBC, BlackStealth LCDBC, AEM wideband, AEM oil pressure, Apexi S1 coilovers with SCE EVO 8/9 adapters, 3SX adjustable control arms, Spec 3+ clutch, Maximal solids/3SX poly motor mounts, Setrab custom SMOC, stock motor 127k miles, stock drivetrain.

I think the 6 speed end case would be okay with my power levels and the way I drive. I'll probably get the transfer case gears when they become available. Selling my billet 5 speed case would probably pay for that.

3,4,5,6 all shift like butter. I will use my 5 speed drivetrain if it isn't economical to fix the 6 speed. I like the ratios on the 6 speed better so far. 3,4,5 are a lot more useful than 3,4,5 in the 5 speed. 4th has some pull even at like 30 MPH. The big sixth is nice too. I got 250 miles on a half of tank on the way back. Between 25-27 cruising about 80. That's 1 or 2 better than my 5 speed car.

This car doesn't really need restoration, there is zero rust on the bottom, it looks like new. Even the rear wiper button works fine, everything is mint.

I would've loved a ride in jared's viper, or even just to oogle at it, but we didn't meet at his house.

The gray car is also a stealth and has 161,000. Pretty much new everything though. Should be nice even with 9bs. I don't know why people say sixth doesn't have any pull in a stock car. I think their shit is broken because this car accelerates easily in 6th and I never needed to downshift to pass.

It's only going to be a serious launch with traction that will split the end case. It'll go before the gears do though since it's the weaker link. Unless someone makes some stronger gears I'd expect a new upgraded case design, gears, and bearings to probably be $4k+ as a cheap estimate on a group buy. Perminent Grin is paying $8k for his prototype. It's just not worth it to me considering how much more expensive it is to beef up the 6-speed as opposed to the 5. I do like the 6th gear for cruising but that's about the only thing I like. 400AWHP isn't that bad shifting. 500AWHP and up though is a pain. I feel like a rally car rowing through gears almost as fast as I can let the clutch in and out at least on 1st and 2nd. It gets very annoying but I've always preferred the longer 5-speed gears so I'm biased.

Mine has minimal rust but I can't swap a whole rear subframe, diff, axles, and brakes without powdercoating everything while I'm down there, installing new aluminum and poly bushings, and undercoating the car. Excessive yes but I want it to perform like new and look good too.

I think you should get a decent price on the stealth once you sell it but I wouldn't count too heavily on it going to someone here or at least getting what it should be worth.

The shift forks on the 6s do break but I don't think you'll have a problem unless you're NLTS or trying to do it without the clutch. A high rpm mis-shift could easily do it.

price was good and I always wanted a 95. I originally had a non turbo 95, so it is like coming home.

I also have wanted something a little less conspicuous. Tired of getting stares and getting questioned about it everytime I go anywhere.

oh the other thing is i LOVE the stock motor mounts. It sucks I gotta swap the polys over. I may only swap over the front and rear and skip the sides.
