If the event isn't gut wrenching enough, the comments following the story here make me want to throw up.

The fact that such a high percentage of people are so willfully ignorant of guns that they think a CHL holder in that theater would have been a bad thing makes me weep for our future.

Judging by some of the words used and they way the sentences are structured, it looks like most of negative posts about CHL holders are from non-Americans.

I may be harboring a rash idea here, but if I were a big-shot politician I might just push a bill detailing a complete disarmament of American citizens......to be considered only after a ten-year period wherein we will have a 'must-be-armed' policy, to study ITS effect.

All in aid of determining which policy is preferable, you see.

I have a couple friends who have their CHL in TX, but most theaters post signs (section 30.06 in the penal code) saying it's not allowed. I'm guessing they just don't want the liability if something went wrong. And, I've heard that any theater that serves alcohol prohibits any firearms as well. Most of the high end theaters these days do.

I see 2 in Austin that I'll never be going to.

Apparently one of the Alamo Draft Houses (not sure if it's common knowledge but these are movie theaters that serve alcohol) posted a 30.06 sign in 2007 but enough people complained that it was gone within a couple months.

AMC is well known for it. Cinemark is the other major theater up here, and while they aren't on that list, I've personally seen the "No firearms" sign at the theater near us. (Now, apparently the sign has to meet certain criteria to actually be considered a "legal" 30.06 sign, but I wouldn't be looking to carry in an establishment that has a sign posted, regardless of whether it is legal or not, I'm not a lawyer.)

The iPic theater near us (where we are going tonight for Batman coincidentally) serves alcohol, so it's a no go there as well.
