ebay Y-pipe, GM MAF? anybody ever do this?

I cut mine, moved the BOV flange infront of the cut, retigged it, and got couplers to splice it in.

Got any pictures? What size couplers/reducers did you use on the Y-pipe sides? I'm planning on doing the exact same thing

I did this without the GM MAF with a DNP setup, because the DNP pipes are something like a quarter or half inch larger than the stock piping and getting them to fit with the stock y pipe was a nightmare. Otherwise the ebay y-pipe fits like shit, looks like shit, and is just shit in general.

It can work, just prepare for some work on your end, especially if you're using stock IC piping. If you aren't using the stock IC piping, then this shouldn't be too difficult.

the ebay pipe that I'm using right now has zero fitment issues.

I'll get some when I get back home, it took me a while to find the correct size couplers, but i did find them eventually.

Hey Sketch, did you get anywhere with this? I'm looking to do the same. It doesn't look like there's enough room in the ebay y-pipe to put the maf in without using a 90* coupler.

The 3" maf is actually 3.25" (IIRC) and the TB is 2.75". I haven't found a 90* 3.25 to 2.75 silicon coupler in existence.

Use a 90* off the throttle body to the gm maf. Then cut the y pipe right after the bov tube and roll a bead on the end. This setup held 25 psi for me with no issues. I also had a meth nozzle in the 90* coupler.

That's what I was wanting to do but I can't seem to find a coupler for it. My maf is 3.222" and the throttle body is 2.75". Are you using a 3" to a 2.75 reducer elbow?

I could see a 3" stretching a quarter inch to fit the maf but I'd rather not shrink the other end a quarter inch to get it to fit on the TB.

Well I just ordered the ebay Y pipe and a 3"-2.75" 90* reducer coupler for 55 bucks. That's worth it to try it out.

Hey if you do this (I know people that have) you should make one of these to bead the ends of the pipes.







It's just part of a exhaust clamp and a washer welded to vice grips.

Yep, I made this one for 2" pipe. I'll have to make another one for the larger pipe.
