    Climate control unit

I got the '92 R/T out of storage last week and the climate control unit was dark. the AC works and I can cycle through the modes and everything switches around, it's just that I can't see where I am at. What is the first thing I should look at or is the LCD unit just toast when it doesn't light up?

Oh, and if this wasn't enough, I ran the car around town and everything seemed OK after sitting for about 3 years, so I green lighted my wife to take a 120 mile trip in it to go get her grandson. About 65 miles into the trip, the auto trans goes out and I had to go retrieve it with the trailer. Got a call this morning and the internals are beyond burnt requiring a total rebuild to the tune of $2100 installed. I was planning on getting the trans overhauled this winter but fate moved up the schedule, son of a bitch.

Pretty sure the screen going out is common from the caps in the ac display itself leaking. I'd send it to Rymer, if it's not totally destroyed he can fix it.

Agrees about the Climate Control caps. Basicllay any item in the car that has caps will eventually leak and need repaired due to the caps they used back in the day. Te climate control screen is a little more complicated than the ECU/ECS computer as you have to unsolder the LCD screen to get to some of the caps. Rymer would be my choice also to get it repaired.

Sorry to hear about the trans!!

    Check it out on Youtube!!

We can sell you a rebuilt auto trans, $1200, no core. Shipping would probably be about $150-200.

The climate controls burn up like the ecus. If you pull the backing off, you can see where they leaked. Of its not terrible, try to get it repaired. If not, we sell replacement units for $100-125, tested good.

Too late on the trans, they got the green light to rebuild yesterday. Depending on what I find with the climate unit, I'll keep getting one off of you in mind.

Sometimes when the caps go out they can cause other damage in turn permanently damaging the LCD screen too. Depending on your soldering skills along with your equipment, you can replace the caps without removing the LCD screen, that's how I did mine, regardless, easy job, just takes patience
