OEM Turbo oil feed lines vs. 3SX ss braided....pics

OK, so i have had alot of oil starved turbos since going to the 3sx ss lines. I am running stock return, but the ss feed lines were sooooo much easier to install. Well, after the last turbos having an issue, i decided after much swaying from this forum, to go back to the stock ones. Threw a fresh set on and took some comparative pics at the diameter of the oem vs 3sx. suprised the hell out of me.....

case closed for me. Now i will get my coolant linesback on and the turbos back in then with the new throttle body i got from april (amazing job btw ap! ) we will see what she can do. oh, btw... didnt take off the ac to put on the front one. rear was easy, but front took like 3 minutes to take off, but was a pain to get back on. hardest part was getting the banjo started, then was cake. all in all pretty easy. (having the turbos out was a plus )

So what is everyones thoughts on the two lines. I know some have said they are fine and some say OEM, but after the pics, kinda says it all for me.

Yup. The banjo-AN adapter on those is totally unnecessary. I have -3 or -4 feed hoses on mine (I forget which - installed several years ago) and used a male metric straight thread to male AN adapter (threads into the turbo, seals with a crush washer, and has a male AN port sticking up), and a 90 deg female AN to male AN elbow to make the 90 deg turn into the braided hose. You can also get pre-fab hoses with 90 deg ends already on them which means you have one less fitting to buy.

The banjo is usually only called for when there will be a clearance issue with using a regular 90. Banjo can make for a shorter overall height.

Is it just me or is EVERYTHING about the SS oil line kit(s) 3SX sells WRONG? The return is too small, the feed is too small...

Vast majority of what 3SX sells is top notch, but they also sell some real head-scratchers.

Hey Adam! You could probably tell me what size AN oil feeds I have... (commence climbing into engine bay with angle grinder... lol!)

I went back to stock return lines a while back. I haven’t seen an aftermarket line that is as big as the stockers. I don’t really think it’s possible to make them as big because of the fittings. If you are blowing turbo seals I'd vent the crank case.

it does look like a big difference, but I wonder if it really matters. The passages in the turbo are like in the .080 range or something very small compared to the size of that line.

I think you have bigger problems if you are oil starving the turbos. The lines being larger or smaller especially with the slight difference in size that I see isn't going to starve the turbos. If anything, you will have better oil pressure to the CHRA housing on the 3SX lines than on the stock lines. Personally, I would not use the banjo, I would use a 45 degree AN fitting.

All interesting data for sure. I have the 3SX lines, but haven't installed them yet. I probably will, but I like the suggestions to not use the banjo bolts, but use AN to metric adapters and 45 or 90 deg fittings instead. What size AN to metric adapter is needed to go into the turbo oil feed? -4 AN to metric 10mmx1.5? Summit carries those. There's also a Parker hydraulic fitting store nearby, where I've gotten -4AN to 1/8th NPT high strength steel fittings from, perhaps they have metric adapters as well.
