i had already taken tomorrow off for recovery. and it seemed like a good time for a batman begins/TDK marathon, too.
overall, this was fucking awesome. the obstacles were a blast, but god damn. running 10 miles up and down a god damn ski resort mountain was absolutely awful. only a handful of plateaus, other than that it was constant up and down some pretty deep slopes. my knees are pretty messed up from crawling on rocks from a few obstacles (overall the crawling under barbed wire/10,000 volt electrical lines/tubes through mud/water/pitch black underground tunnels/whatever else obstacles were rather easy for me as I'm not the biggest guy around), my ankles are messed up from being a mildly uncoordinated distance runner, and i'm missing a bb gun sized chunk of skin from the tip of my driving finger and a penny sized chunk of skin from the lower section of the palm of my hand (both from the 2nd to last obstacle, too -_-
the berlin walls were a bit rough (8' ones at first, then 10' and 12'), but my exceptionally long arms came in handy. the other short guy on the team had a bit more trouble with them.
and the shock therapy, man. i never want to get tazed. ever. 10k volts is enough. basically, you don't know which wires are live and which ones arent, so when you hit a live one it hurts A LOT and you basically just fall flat first on your face into a pile of hay or mud. i wasn't the only person who blacked out a section of that event (the final one right in front of the finish line)
but the whole thing was fucking awesome. time to train harder and get ready for whatever else i want to do next.
bb gun pellet*
I was basically a vegetable when I wrote all of that up on Sunday night
these are all the rage now... every yuppie nowdays is a tough guy dreaming of being a army ranger...
the tough mudder is actually one of the real "mud" races. Not the 1 mile hop in a mud pit "for the girls" race...
real 3s'ers have NoCar transfer cases...
