a felony? so much for equal protection under the law.
this is what I don't get about "Blue States" and their voters. they claim they want fairness and equality. they bitch about the gov't trampeling people's rights. then they go do shit like this. pass laws that offer stiffer penalties for actions against certain groups. in this case gov't officers and the make it easier for said gov't to use and abuse people. fracking mind boggling.

Completely agree. It makes no sense. This law for IL seems like one last "fuck you" from Pat Quinn. Luckily he was voted out of office this last election. Believe it or not, IL voted in a Republican Governor. I hope he does better that Quinn. Either way, its fucked and I better stop before this turns into a political discussion in the wrong thread lol
Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

snopes.com: Illinois Just Made It a Felony for Its Citizens to Record the Police
Quinn has not signed anything yet.
I know Quinn has not signed it yet, however it IS on his desk. It passed in the house and Senate. Also, I never said the law is for all recording, however it leaves a loophole for it. As for Snopes, when it comes to political "rumors", they have been shown to be biased at times. The facts are, IL house and Senate passed a bill putting restrictions on recording police. Per the bill, violating said restrictions can be charged as a felony. It is now on Quinn's desk to be vetoed or signed. And could be a last "fuck you" before he leaves office.
So because the state house and senate did something it automatically seems like the will of the governor, signed or not? You don't see a misplaced sense of responsibility/accountability here?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it won't get signed but whining over speculation seems like a big waste of time. Just save it for if/when it actually becomes a law rather than a potential law.
