I disagree. nascar cars are not bigger, faster and stronger than F1 cars. maybe bigger but that's about it.well that and nascar sucks.

I wish I could dig it up but I remember an interview with some English Premier league player when he was asked about the football players when they were in London praticing for a game. he said something to the effect of, "I looked at these guys and thought zomg they're huge. then they started running and I was like, ZOMG they're fast to. HOLY SHIT!"

Take away the eternal debate about the term "football" and there's not much commonality.

Soccer is popular because anyone can play, anywhere, anytime - all you need is a few stones or sticks to mark a goal, and something soft enough to kick around, hence it's overwhelming global (read: third-world) favor.

You don't need taxpayer money, any sort of official sanction, or even adult supervision.
