Should amend my original statement: I am 3 miles from the center of town, they stopped laying cable half a mile from my house. 20k is the cost they said I would have to pay for them to run it that remaining 1/2 mile. While my little town may be fairly rural, it's not like I live an hour away from folks.

still sounds like the sticks.

never had problems getting decent service in towns around 50k+ people. rural living is understood to come with a lack of conveniences. if you want to live on 50 wooded acres, then by all means, do so. just don't pitch a fit about how connected you are with the rest of the world.

50k people is more than a town. There are only 1500 people in the nearest town to me. The largest city in my county is Uniontown and it has 10,000 people. Its not the sticks.

The largest city near me is Morgantown WV and it has 30k people, its not the sticks.
