I have found that to be very true in my experience as well. One particular case, to more of an extreme, is the older gentleman that stops by my work from time to time to tell me about how he still calls in favors from the Pentagon when he needs them because he's "just an old assassin for the government". My gut tells me a hired assassin by the Federal Government wouldn't spout a word about it to even those closest to them.
