Because the off topic sections aren't usually of an automtive substance. If all someone does is troll (not saying thats what you are going) the OT sections then they shouldn't show 10,000 posts that hasn't helped someone fix their car.

IMHO then it should be listed as "Posts with automotive substance."
I don't believe I've ever seen another forum where posts on certain sub-forums don't count toward a total post count. And what help is that to a newbie who see's "oh snap, 20 poasts? this guys has been around for a while but it looks like he's never on. guess i can't really trust what he's saying." just because i rarely post in auto-related sections doesn't mean that i don't lurk in them quite a bit or know how to fix my car (or where to look/search) when something's gone awry.

Sketch, how would you suggest counting posts? I understand what your saying and dont doubt you know your shit but, anyone who doesnt have a clue could make a lot of posts. I guess thats where the thanks button comes in, which only applies to car related stuff.

i feel like that. i post alot on a couple forums but i am not the most knowledgeable guy on some of the posts i make so it wouldnt be fair to compare me to someone who post half as much but actully helps people

You posted on 3si didn't you? There were several forums on there that didn't go toward counted posts. The lounge, parts wanted, A/V. If post count bothers you THAT much, then , well, I don't know what to say.
