basically the car in question comes with a system designed to help prevent you from hitting a car in front of you while doing less than 30mph. There is an optional pedestrian detection system that costs an extra $3000 that this car didnt have. even if it did the heavy acceleration by the driver would have turned off the system anyways. This has nothing to do with self driving/automated cars and everything to do with people being dumbasses.

of course, I still dont like the concept of self driving cars. to me, the best part of having a car is the driving experience itself.
