I'm a mid sized dog fan. I have a 65lb pit bull, and a 40lb pit mix. A medium dog, especially a pit is worth more for home protection than a pistol, and doesn't smash the couch just sitting on it.

The reason I like dogs for home protection is that someone can't take my dog off my wife and make it bite her.

Personally I feel small dogs are useless. At least a cat provides rodent protection.

Not at all. If something is out of the ordinary, or someone is sneaking up on the house, my dog is usually the first to let me know. Cats won't even let you know someone is there. I have a watch dog, not a guard-dog...and I'm fine with that. If you really want to guard your home, you don't need a dog, you need a gun.

I'm fine with guns, my wife and kids on the other hand aren't so handy. My dog would die for them.

Student debt is out of control but I'm sick of hearing about it. If some kid decides to go to Private U or Big Time Out-of-State U at 40, 50 or 60k a year just so they could have the 'college experience, well, that kids a fucking idiot and his idiocy is not my problem. So many sob stories about tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars debt these fucking morons have but they'll never tell you they went to Arts-R-Us at 45k a year to major in 'paint by numbers.' If you're taking out more than 20-25k in loans total, for all 4 years, you're a fucking moron and so are your parents for leading you down that path.

I'm glad the truth about for-profits is coming out. It's amazing they've been able to find enough students to pay into their scam.

And the gov't needs to get out of student loans completely.

I agree, V. That said, not all for-profits are the bane of the earth. I might be biased, but I don't really have any complaints about American Military University (APUS). Then again, I've never really heard anyone call them a scam educational institution...like I've heard about ITT and especially U of Phoenix.

Spot on with NOT having the government involved. Ample student aid was good in theory, but--just as with Affirmative Action--50 years down the road, shit is all kinds of fucked up.
