Listen, Alex, there are a couple schools of thought, here...there are those who believe the earth to be warming - while the evidence of this not as complete as some pretend, or prefer, we may grant general agreement on that point.

The division exists most glaringly between those who think humankind is to blame in equal measure with natural events, and coincidentally to an extent that demands a huge financial sacrifice and industry-crippling regulation.

The opposition is less-than-sure of man's role in things, and sees insufficient proofs to handicap industry and business with extraordinary economic burdens.

At the point where the evidence goes begging, those who doubt man's culpability are shy about the prospect of hardship, while the global-warming crowd insists the sacrifices be made, "just in case".

Now, we all have a point-of-view to defend or push, and you are in one crowd, doing what you do, and I am in the other, doing what I do.

So I will ask you this, instead-

What was your point/aim in posting about heat-records being broken, except to push your POV, as I push mine?

Weather is not the same as climate, so one warm season on record doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'll leave the posting of historical climate data to some of my more willing and eager-to-debate cohorts.

this. for all we know, we could attribute climate change to solar flare activity, the wobble earth has around its axis, the minute diversions from its orbit it continually takes, or other factors that are almost impossibly difficult to measure. none of these factors has "man-made" written on it.

now play nice, or i'll be forced to fire some red-matter into our sun.

I have to admit I have a low-grade knee-jerk reaction to those whose default beliefs re global warming center on man as the culprit - I find their presentations ignorantly presumptive and outrageous.

What irritates me most is the priggish air they use to dissociate themselves from the problem by virtue of their 'enlightenment'.
