Same as I said last week, looking forward to next year. This season is a total bust for WVU. Tavon Austin muffs THREE kick returns? Geno overthrows two easy 50+ yd TD's? It's excruciating to watch. Can't wait to watch OU carve us like a Thanksgiving turkey. Ugggggh. Win or lose, we still booze.

I know, but if you look at his performances this year, as the year has gone on his stats have gotten better game by game since Florida excluding the LSU game against what is still one of the best defenses in the nation. I think if it were possible for him to replay that game now, he probably beats Florida. Not sure about his game vs LSU, but perhaps they pull it out.

I wouldn't go that far. The SEC has been as advertised over the past...well, forever, but the SEC this year is definitely the weakest it has been in a long time in terms of top to bottom strength. TAMU is simply benefiting from that. Let's not forget that TAMU lost to a very average Florida and LSU team.

I agree. They're still bringing in the best athletes year after year. This is just a "down" year for the SEC and the rest of college football had better take advantage of it...

Now unrelated to you, or your avatar, I was getting ready to ask anyway. Why does Auburn suck so bad this year? No kidding, I expected more. I was hoping they would spring to life and upset Georgia but that sure as hell isn't happening. I think they should put Tennessee, Arkansas and Auburn in a free for all suck fest and let Vanderbilt and Kentucky play the winner.

1) Auburn has had top 10 recruiting classes for the past three years. You would think this would translate to wins, no? Well, the attrition rates for these classes has been tremendous. We lost four for robbing some people at gunpoint, a few to grades, Dyer because he loves the reefer and has a shitty attitude, and a few more just didn't pan out. I honestly see this as Texas from two years ago. Some of these players have a sense of entitlement that is ruining the chemistry of the football team as a whole. You get that when you recruit players for the number of stars next to their name and lack the coaching attitude to keep those players in check. Like him or hate him, Nick Saban has been able to be successful with his four- and five-star recruits because of his coaching style. He will just as quickly kick your ass to the curb if he sees even the hint of an attitude from you. Chizik, on the other hand, seems to be a fan of second and third chances before showing his players the door (see Dyer).

2) Chizik's decision to move to a pro-style offense will be his undoing. He had all of the players for a spread offense and decided to go pro-style to mimic a team more like Saban's and to protect his defense. This is exactly what Saban wants. He wants other teams to fall in this trap because he's already ahead of the curve with these types of players and he knows his 3-4 defense tends to have a hard time defending a properly-run spread offense (see TAMU 2012, Auburn 2010, and Florida and Utah 2008).

3) Hiring Scott Loeffler to run said pro-style offense was a huge bust. It seems Chizik called up a lot of potential candidates and got turned down and had to settle for Loeffler.

4) There is a lack of physicality on this team. Watch the offensive and defensive line in particular. They get manhandled on every play. Their strength and conditioning is poor at best.

5) The team has quit. It was recently reported that Chizik hired a security firm to check on players to make sure they made curfew following the arrest of our starting center for being drunk in public. This pissed off the team. I honestly feel like they are playing for themselves and not for their coaches. When a head coach shows that kind of level of distrust for his team, he already has one foot out the door.

6) This team is still very young. We play a lot of true freshmen every week and no SEC team will be successful with that kind of roster.

7) Chizik is simply not a good head coach. He had loads of success as a defensive coordinator but some coaches simply cannot put the pieces together to make that final jump to a successful head coaching career. He's a great recruiter and manager that caught lightning in a bottle with Cam Newton and a senior-laden, disciplined football team that ran an unconventional offense run by one of the most respected offensive minds in football. In fact, Chizik had to be convinced to even offer Newton a scholarship by the rest of his staff.

8) This year shows evidence that Chizik has had his hands in places they should not be, namely the offense. It is theorized that this is why Malzahn left for Arkansas State. Chizik didn't like that Malzahn's offense was resulting in greater snaps for his defense and perceived this as a weakness and urged Malzahn to slow down his playcalling to help his defense get rest. This resulted in uncharacteristically poor offensive numbers in 2011 and eventually to Malzahn's departure.

THANK YOU! I've had this argument with so many people. Who tell me "nah, 'bama is just that good". Sure, against their own style of offense. A good spread attack has shown they can be undone.

Same problem Michigan has and has had for years. Spread/Option offences always mess us up.

Worse lately because were still recovering from the rich rod years.

Chizik = the only coach that is ahead of Derek Dooley on the list of coaches to be fired. Dooley might have took the top spot after that piss poor coaching job last weekend though.
