Help !! Tick or knock in engine

When is the last time you drove it?

If you drive it daily, you have a new club to join... Spun Bearing

If you just fired it up from an extended nap it could be a collapsed lifter. Still may be a lifter gone bad even if it has not been sitting.

Get a cheap stethoscope from Harbor Freight, or use a large screw driver to the ear. Locate the source area of the knock. That will help diagnose.

It's strange sometimes it's not there and goes away under load . I just picked up the car so unfortunately I don't know when this started. I have to pick up a stethoscope today. I was hoping lifters

Doesnt sound metallic enough to be a collapsed lifter.

Sounds bad. stop running/revving the crap out of it. Drop the pan and inspect your rod bearings.

With the sound of the squeaky belts it possibly a pulley. Drain the oil and cut the filter open to check for bearing material.
