My suggestion is to get a LICENSED appraisal from someone who deals with rare cars. It's hard to contest a licensed appraisal.

You should have had it appraised and insured accordingly BEFORE you got in an accident. If you want top dollar for your car, that is a must.
Now, how many miles are on the car? If it's around 100k, I'd say you could possibly get $8500-9500.
I'm with him on buying it back. Fight for the highest amount possible and then buy her back![]()
When I totalled my first VR-4 I was in the same situation. Blue book values were way lower than cost to actually replace. I ended up making a couple grand on the whole ordeal so hope this helps.
Insurance companies work upon the principals of indemnity, replace what is lost or broken. I ended up showing a bunch of photos that I had taken of the car in excellent condition to the insurance adjuster as well as printouts of similar VR-4's on autotrader. They came back agreeing that it would cost more money to find one similar to the one I wrecked so they just wrote the check for the higher amount and I was able to buy a new one. Best of luck to ya! That totally sux.
i have tons of befores of it at meets and car shows in great shape and tons of afters for comparison. i gave my lawyer 152 pages of others for sale, sold and the rarity by year and color. im working on the receipts now for the mods i would like somebody who has had theirs insured or appraised for above blue book to help me show them how much there really worth you can black out your personal info i just need the value and the model thats it just for comparison purposes only im just looking for some fellow 3/s'ers help thats all
and hell yeah im buying in back regardless maybe to part it out if i do get anybody's help and do part it out i will hook you up good i just want to be able to afford to do it you know
Who cares what they offer you...? It doesn't matter. Don't accept it. They have to pay you fair market value for the car. That means they have to pay you enough money to replace the car. All you have to do is tell THEM to replace your car. After they try in vain for a few weeks, they're offer will suddenly go up...
Edit: Along with that... If they pull their heads out and figure out the value is more than they thought, maybe they won't total it.

dont slutty chicks rock!
Is this your insurance company? or the other persons insurance?
If it's the other person's insurance, you have the advantage. You didn't ask them to destroy your irreplaceable car... They need to either arrange to replace it, (best of luck to them on that... including 96's, there were only 610 95 or newer RT/TT's built) or they need to fix it. You can even narrow the field more by telling them what colors or interiors you won't accept.
Of course pictures can be deceiving, but your car looks very repairable... You just need the value to cover the cost.
oh its theirs but there dicks about everything
One other quick note. All aftermarket performance parts are usually worth zip to insurance companies and resale. If you can find receipts for your aftermarket stuff cool, if not I wouldn't fret about it. If the towing company that has your car is pretty laid back I would try and schmooz my way in there if I was you. I was able to salvage my amps, head unit and speakers by telling them that since the insurance company wasn't going to pay me for my aftermarket equiptment, I would replace it right there with factory parts. Too bad my hood was jammed shut, I had to leave the BOV and intake etc. Best of luck to ya fella!
