As some of you may know from the pictures I posted in another thread my driver's side front wheel fell off at 60mph a couple weeks ago. Last weekend I was only able to get the studs replaced. This weekend I pulled off all of the wheels to check them out and found out that only 2 wheels had the hubcentric rings installed.
Driver's Side Rear: Ok, had hubcentric ring.
Passenger's Side Rear: Not ok, no ring.
Driver's Side Front: Not ok, no ring.
Passenger's Side Front: Ok, but had 2 rings. One was jammed into the wheel and the other was installed properly...or at least it was in the location it should be in.
There's a possibility that the ring from the driver's side front was lost when the wheel fell off but that still doesn't make up for the passenger's rear missing a ring altogether and the passenger's front having an extra one jammed inside of it. For that reason alone I am not going to give the benefit of the doubt so easily.
I would think that it would have been a PITA to put the passenger's front wheel on with 2 rings. That must have taken some force. Of course, the only wheel I've ever taken off myself before the incident was the driver's side rear...which was the only one installed correctly.
What the inside of the wheel should look like.
What the passenger's side front looked like with an extra hubcentric ring jammed into it.
Good ring on the left and the bad one on the right.
Good Ring:
Bad ring that was jammed into the wheel:
