    Dash smoking/Dimming and no fogs

Today I attempted to run my fogs separately from my lows by doing this mod. My fogs didnt stay on though. Instead, my highs did. I assumed that I tapped into the wrong wire, so I just taped up that wire. I reconnected the wire to the correct FOG pin. I didnt understand that the fog light button wouldnt be functional, so I just undid the mod and taped up/ reconnected the cut wires.

When I turned on my running lights, I realized that my dash and center gauges (all stock) were dim. I also realized that my fogs were still on. I pressed the fog switch, and the fogs turned off and the dash got brighter (normal brightness).

I then turned on my lows. My dash lights and center gauges dimmed no matter. My fogs turned on when the fog switch was in the off position, and turned off when the switch was in the on position. I had to go to work, so I just removed the "fog" relay that was under the hood.

When I turned the lows on again for a couple seconds, I noticed that the HID lows dimmed more when the fogs were supposed to be on (even though I removed the relay). I just turned off the lows.

On my way home from work, I turned on my lows. I saw smoke by my gauges and smelled it. I turned off my lows and just kept my running lights on.

When I finally go home, I put the fog relay back in. The fogs wouldnt turn on though.

What do you guys think the issues are?

At the 5th step, I cut the wire between the relay and fog AFTER I connected the wire to the "tail" wire. Would that be what caused the issue?

Im almost positive. I undid the mod, and restored the wiring to how it is from the factory. That didnt fix anything.

no clue with the smoke coming from the dash, that is so not a good sign. without knowing what you did tap int it is anybodys guess.
