    Aftermarket Transmission Seals

Since the oem seals are on the high side of ridiculous in terms of pricing I've been researching some alternatives.

For the 18 spine output shaft seal it looks like SKF 9710 will work.

For the driver side axle seal it looks like National 710318 crosses over.

For the passenger side axle seal it looks like National 710353 crosses over. You can even see the factory part # on the picture here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NATIONAL-710...6f1e6c&vxp=mtr

Anyone have any experience with these? I have the output shaft seal in hand and it appears that it will fit in the transmission case, but I won't know for sure for a couple days. I'm resealing the trans while I swap out some syncros to prevent leaks.

so, to summarize SKF 9710 should work for the 18 spline output shaft, national 710318 should work for the driver side axle seal, and National 710353 should work for the passenger side.

SKF 10923 looks right for the 25 spline output shaft seal:

    MUCH cheaper than oem.

I have confirmed the 18 spline outputshaft seal and the 2 axle seals fit fine. I do not have the ability to try the 25 spline output shaft seal.

when i needed seals i took the used ones to our local bearing distribitor and they match them, .they have the size on them and they can also measure the old seal.

thanks to gtwhoa I tried the national 710318 on the driverside shaft and it is a good fit. the skf 15292 was loose. As long as it fits the case it should work.

fyi the seals posted, with the exception of skf 15292 work fine.

the skf 9710 was a great fit for the output shaft seal and both axle seals fit well.

does anyone have an aftermarket part # for the input shaft end plug? The one I got from jacks sticks out about 1/8" past the end of the case?

I buy my aftermarket seals from Transtar... They have their own numbering system, so I don't have any name brand numbers to offer, but so far everything has been available.

The early end plug is available, and has always fit just fine, I have no idea why the one from Jacks would have been an issue, I kind of assumed they were getting them from the same source. For the late model end plug with the oil dam built in, I just go with O.E. It's cheap, and I've never had a problem getting it from Cherry Hill.

Anyone else notice that the national 710318 (laft) axle seal has the grooves facing the wrong direction?

Think I found em on rockauto. There is a 710353 listed from TIMKEN, and 710318 listed from TIMKEN and NATIONAL.
