Collusion

Checked out this new firefox add-on called "collusion". It's purpose is to keep track of how many sites are potentially tracking you. Open up this site and you get 2 additional sites running in the background (facebook and doubleclick.net). Yahoo - 6, cnn - 4, google - 0.

Pulled up 3si and I had to count a few times to get it right - 27, lol. I'm tempted to try some porn sites (I bet even they will have less than 27), but I should probably wait until I get home

The higher the number, the more likely one or more of these other sites are tracking and selling your internet use and also the greater potential for malware.

Interesting adon. Have you tried this while also running adblockplus? With adblock plus I only get one site from this one [facebook] and one from 3si [exelator]. This does change though depending on what's going on on the screen. If the page has an embeded youtube video then it also links youtube. Just opened a page with photos hosted from photobucket and now it's following. I suspect without adblockplus it will show up every site linked to the ads etc.

potentially tracking you != are tracking you. i guarantee google is tracking you, even though you're getting a 0 pings from it.

Maybe the ones that can hide themselves are the ones we really have to worry about, lol
