Verizon - The beginning of the end

“Share Everything” family plans for Verizon introduced, coming June 28th; may not be right choice for everyone

For me, this is the last straw, and I will switch carriers or buy off contract before I move to this option.

I've been pretty happy with sprint. I get unlimited everything. Not that I use a lot but I don’t have to worry about going over and getting ass pumped.

What's bullshit is charging for data, it doesnt cost them any more. They just want more money. Im paying $15 a month in Taiwan for my HTC Sensation with unlimited everything, I use my phone often as a hotspot for my netbook. Its ridiculous.

Just over time Verizon's moves lately have been very annoying. First got rid of New Every Two, then charging $300 for an upgrade to GNex, then getting rid of Unlimited Data, then charging a hidden $30 "Upgrade Fee", and now this, forcing you to upgrade.

Google sells the GNex (16gb non verizon) for $399 off contact, so the upgrade price isn't that great at $300 (lower now). But now with that $30 upgrade fee, which they should just call it as it is, a hidden charge to artificially make their new phone prices look lower. Since when you buy a phone at full retail, you do not need to pay an upgrade fee to switch to that phone, only when you upgrade through them, wtf?

Now with this data limitation, I feel it is going against progression. Since the internet has come out, two things have happened, speed has gotten faster, and bandwidth usage has increased. Verizon is going backwards on this one. As speeds get faster, we get HD quality video. Now with speeds the way they are, we are now seeing Cloud Storage. Bandwidth will continue to rise, but now we have to worry about data caps. Again, WTF Verizon.

Verizon has continually treated their loyal customers like crap. I have only stayed with them this long because of their network, but I am willing to take the chance on a network like Sprint in the hopes that others do as well and they build up their network. Plus I like the idea of not being tied into CDMA when every other carrier in the world uses GSM.

Who ever has been running Verizon the last two years really knows how to piss off its loyal customers.

I cant imagine how many pissed off parents there will be going broke because their kids are running of the bill when they go over on their data. I wish verizon would at least give an option of unlimited data.

$30 bucks for a regular phone for my grandmother, which I pay 9.99 for right now. THAT'S the real story. I may save a little on the actual data, but the additional charges bring it right up to above where I am right now.

Uhh, data does cost money. The more people using data the more capacity that is needed for a T1 cellsite. If they didn't keep adding capacity people's network speed would slow way down. In which case, people would then bitch about that. Top that with everyone always wanting faster data speeds in more areas, and you have a company that is facing a HUGE price tag considering a single tower is anywhere from $250,000-1,000,000. Also, consider the company (unless prepaid) also has to make up the price of the smartphone they just sold you and took a $200+ hit on.

I quit verizon when I bought my Nokia Lumia 900... never looked back... Hell AT&T gave me 100$ to make the switch.

activation fee waived... And I get more data and I save money...

Verizon sucks and I used to be one of those "verizon only" people, hated AT&T.

I though verizons service was so much better, AT&T now with no complaints at all...

    Im sorry sprint still sucks...

Most of the phones sold are by independent retailers who have already paid Verizon full price for the device. These smaller retailers are the ones who take the $200+ hit with very little commission paid out by Verizon. Then you have to hope these new customers actually pay their bill or don't cancel, which also doesn't hurt Verizon at all as they do not compensate retailers for cancellations or delinquent accounts. I work for an independent Verizon retailer and they (Verizon Corporate) are nothing but damn greedy crooks.

Money isn't made on the device, money is made on the 2 year commitment.
