what was odd is none of the syncros looked smeared or burned or anything. I think they just say for too long and had some shitty stuff sucked up into their pores. The trans fluid I drained had a ton of black dirt in the bottom after it settled for a few weeks. It was redline mtl with 200 miles on it, so it really does a good job of cleaning out the tranny.

They weren't worn at all? You should have been able to put the synchro on the gear and saw that the old gear sat much lower than the new gear, sometimes to the point of bottoming out so no friction material was even touching the gear.

I think I have some pics of that showing it not sure where.

I didn't measure it, but there was quite a gap between the sycnro and the dog teeth if you pressed the syncro down on top. The newer syncros grabbed the gear a LOT harder though.

Synchros seem like one of those things that start to gradually wear so much that even if you don't need them, replacing them will increase the feel dramatically. *debates*

post pics of the ones that came out. if they are full brass AND the balls put dimples in them AND they were not worn to where they bottom out... they might be aftermarket trans rebuild syncros that just dont work well

I'll try to get some pics later Ray. I think they were oem, they had that fiber coating on them, not the full brass ones. They DID all have deep dimples on them from the syncro balls though, I'm sure that was causing the syncro timing to be off.
