Phantom oil leak issue

Has anyone ever tried running two cam seals at once? I know it may sound pretty unusual but here's my thought-train: if possible I would love to not have to redo all my valve cover gasketing, so if I could just take the cam gears off I could press the OEM ones into place without taking the covers off. But in effect I would be running two with the "old" seals pushed further in... it may be redundant and useless but does anyone see any danger with this idea?

I had this problem when I replaced mine so I pulled both of them back off, and I found that one of the holes that the screw goes through slipped out of the groove and it started leaking from there. I just made sure that when I re-installed them I could see the gasket around the holes for each screw.
