I'm currently fighting two issues, and I can't tell if one's causing the other, or if they just happen to happen at the same time. I have a feeling I know what one of them is, but I wanted to see what others thought before I go spending more money hunting down the issue.
First issue: Since the weather has gotten warmer, my car seems to blow a huge solid cloud of smoke in boost beginning 4.5-5k rpm, doesn't seem to matter if I'm running 12 or 17psi. At first I thought I was just running extremely rich but my wbo2 reads 11.5-11.8. I do have a crack along the front manifold and my wideband is located just in front of where the stock main cat would be. I thought it was possible that the wideband could be reading a little lean so I pulled more fuel until about 12.5 and was starting to get knock but still blowing smoke. I returned it back. I plan on checking for other exhaust leaks this week, but I don't believe the wideband is reading far enough off that I should be blowing that big of a cloud of smoke so I'm beginning to consider this is oil smoke.
Second issue: When the cloud happens I sometimes get a stutter, like spark blowout. I believe this has to do with my voltage dropping at around the same rpm (from 13.9 at cruise to 12.7 range). I tried a new alternator and it helped for a short period, but still is hit or miss.
Here's info I think will help. I checked the intake tube before the throttle body and it's clean (no oil). The plugs aren't caked in oil, so I don't think it's ring blowby. PCV valve only a couple months old. I changed the spark plugs and this is what I found:
