The only time I will be receiving work calls on it is when we go on call (which is once every 5 weeks or so for the week). So I am required to carry a phone for that week either way. Keeping my regular phone and forwarding calls is also a good idea, but having an Iphone I cant drop to the cheapest package without switching phones and Im in the middle of a contract anyways.

Thanks for the opinions I think I'm going to go ahead and have them take over my account. It seems stupid to pay for it when I do not have to.

Started a few weeks ago at the Eat n Park corporate office as an IT Tech. And I am also a cheap ass so I'm going to let them take over my line. They also pay for my home internet which is nice haha

    You back in PT?

Can't beat that! Congrats, by the way

I'm still in Indiana but I'll be leaving in a few days. I'll be back and forth between Wheeling and PT this summer so if you wanna hang out sometime/need a hand, let me know!

I also have 2 phones. I wish they would just pay me a phone allowance instead of giving me a phone. I have had this number for 10 years so not willing to change. But they won't use the network I'm not as it's not as good in rural areas... however it's more reliable in metro and in general which is 98% of my work. Gives me the shits. What annoys me more is that they add it to my contract at some rediculous rate to prop up what they think the contract is worth. Same with the car. But I don't use the car or phone for personal use. But given the choise I would keep my own phone. Not giving up my privacy to them etc. Only solution would be for them to pay me an allowance [which won't work due to networks etc]. I would ask for this option in your case. That way the phone is still yours. No-one has the right to access the info etc.

If you're looking to save the money, perhaps a Google Voice account would be your solution. That way you can keep the number and move it between phones, but still use the corp. phone in the meantime.
This is what I do. I got tired of carrying 2 phones all the time, both smartphones at that. At the end of my contract I set up google voice and ditched the personal phone. You can also port your old number to google voice at the end of your contract so you don't lose it. Only issue I have had yet is with picture messages which I rarely use. Just as easy to email them from the phone anyway.

Yep, the MMS isn't completely polished yet. I hope they get that worked out soon.
